The Ennerdale valley is the largest National Nature Reserve in Cumbria. One of the largest re wilding projects across europe, the valley is circled by mountains, forests and wildlife. The perfect place to escape and explore.

Although Ennerdale Water is on the doorstep, there are a number of other gorgeous lakes nearby that are perfect for exploring or having a quick dip. Crummock Water and Buttermere are a popular choice.

The cottage sits directly on the route of the Fred Whitton sportive. In the western lakes you are never too far away from beautiful roads and tough climbs to test the legs. We are often found riding offroad on the local trails.

On a rainy day in particular we love heading out waterfall hunting to see them in full flow. There are plenty in the Ennerdale valley but we also have favourites at Lowewater, Buttermere and Whinlatter.
